There is a huge need for developers and vendors alike to start participating in this new economy by accepting cryptocurrency as payment as well as a need for holders of these currencies to be able to spend them somewhere.

First born in 2008, blockchain’s claim to fame comes from its role as the underpinning technology for Bitcoin, but it has evolved to be used for much more than cryptocurrencies. While it is many things, it is a decentralized, independently verifiable, and immutable ledger at its core. When transactions are recorded on the ledger, every member of the network is updated. The decentralized nature of this ledger ensures that these transactions and the information they carry are tamper-proof. Thanks to blockchain’s use of merkle trees, it is very easy for the network to verify the validity of each transaction. There are over 22 million software developers in the world writing more than 600 billion lines of code each year. The amount of developers is growing over 20% year over year. A single modern sports car has the same amount of code as two Facebook’s. Developers and their code shape the world we live in. Source Code Management underpins the world software development apparatus. Git is the most popular and widely used version control technology today. What if those two worlds collided? Could you take the amazing innovations of the blockchain technology and apply them to the Git world to create a decentralized infrastructure for global developers with full autonomy, no single point of failure and immutable security and record keeping?

This session provides a detailed explanation of how to use Blockchain technology to reduce fraud in a Human Resources enterprise application. The technique is applicable to other enterprise applications besides HR applications, but this session is focused specifically on an HR use case. The presenter is the author of a book on Blockchain that is being published this fall.

Risk and behavioral analysis techniques used by traditional finance also apply, now even more so, to autonomous blockchain markets and their token economics. Markov Chains are used to create Bayesian probability models essential to financial systems. When combined with Monte Carlo simulation, model variable samplings using different distributions show all the possibilities of market behavior. By sampling all combinations of changes to model variables, system faults leading to market failures can be detected and eliminated. These models and simulators also serve as a comprehensive test harnesses for complex smart contract based economic systems. These tools are integral to future proofing the token economic model of autonomous blockchain markets before flipping the switch and hoping for the best. Tools, and mechanisms for simulating and verification testing token economies will be covered. Subutai’s Bayesian model MCMC simulation for its dual token structure based economy with an autonomous market maker and systemically important payment system (SIPS) that manages its currency reserves will be demonstrated. At the end of this talk, you will have access to free open source tools to rapidly start future proofing your own token economic model in a live network.

Managing the IoT data with the Blockchain Re-engineering Enterprise and Consumer Identity Management Using The Blockchain == We are developing Proof of Asset protocol that uses IoT sensors as well as other collected data to monitor state and conditions of digitized assets. Such assets can be of any nature: real estate, vending machines, shared property, rental cars, etc. Collecting data from IoT sensors, analyzing and storing it on blockchain can protect digital asset owners from alteration attacks and data forgery. It can also be used by legal institutions and law enforcement to protect legal rights for property owners.

NuCypher is a data privacy layer for blockchain and decentralized applications that gives developers a way to store, share, and manage private data on public blockchains. Industrial growth increasingly depends on trusted partnerships; but increasing regulation, cybercrime and fraud are inhibiting expansion. To address these challenges, Blockchain will enable more agile value chains, faster product innovations, closer customer relationships, and quicker integration with the IoT and cloud technology. Further Blockchain provides a lower cost of trade with a trusted contract monitored without intervention from third parties who may not add direct value. It facilitates smart contracts, engagements, and agreements with inherent, robust cyber security features. This paper is an effort to break the ground for presenting and demonstrating the use of Blockchain technology in multiple industrial applications. A healthcare industry application, Healthchain, is formalized and developed on the foundation of Blockchain. The concepts are transferable to a wide range of industries as finance, government and manufacturing where security, scalability and efficiency must meet.

To create "smarter search" in today's search engines, we need to understand a) what our users are looking for, b) what kinds of questions they've generally been interested in the past, c) what previous attempts to satisfy this search question have been, d) what others have been feeling were successful answers to this (and related) questions.  These questions are difficult in general, but with our user's collective behavior to guide us, an "80% solution" can be achieved by doing that most effective "machine learning model": counting.  The next 80% relevance gain can be found in a combination of collaborative filtering recommender systems wired through your search engine, and simple supervised machine learning for query intent classification.  If you really need to get the remaining 80% of relevance gains left, you'll need to roll up your sleeves and do some NLP or knowledge graph mining, but first let's see if you even need to get that far.

Data Marketplaces are gaining significance. With the abundance of enterprise data everywhere, the notion of data monetization is on every enterprise’s mind. One enterprise’s data is another enterprise’s analytics goldmine. With the advent of IoT, our enterprises are part of connected ecosystems. As participants of the same partner ecosystem, enterprises belonging to an industry are keen on sharing data with each other or at least try to monetize on that, where possible. However, with everyone’s astute focus on compliance regulations like GDPR, data sharing is not easy. And, therein come Blockchains with the promise of complete data auditability and governance. This session will showcase the key challenges and a reference architecture.

Each year, $25 trillion in business transactions take place in the global supply chain, but because of supply-chain inefficiencies--including overstocks, out-of-stocks, supply-chain interruptions, and lost sales opportunities--nearly $4.7 trillion of this spending is effectively wasted, imposing an enormous burden on buyers and sellers alike. One reason for these high, needless costs and lost revenue is the fact that only 27% of global B2B transactions are digitized. This session will demonstrate that, by using blockchain and smart contracts, global supply chains can be made much more efficient, not only eliminating unnecessary costs, but providing significant monetary benefits to both buyers and sellers in all parts of the world.

Following the Great Recession in 2008, people began searching for alternative means of financial transactions removed from the third-party middlemen they felt they could no longer trust. Then came Bitcoin: the decentralized currency that took personal information out of the hands of bank behemoths and back into the hands of their rightful owners. Initially a concept in Satoshi Naokomoto’s 2008 whitpaper, Bitcoin has since become a major part of the cultural landscape, starting a cryptocurrency revolution. There are now over 1500 altcoins, and that number is continuing to grow all the time. Furthermore, the blockchain technology that powers Bitcoin is transforming the way enterprises process business transactions in industries as varied as legal services, health care, and real estate. In my presentation, I will discuss why I believe Bitcoin and other digital currencies will grow even more influential in the modern-day financial landscape, as well as how they will continue to demonstrate their value as the peoples’ currency.

Factom has identity management built into the core of the blockchain code allowing users to define cryptographic identities for people, documents, resources and nearly anything else. Managing identity on the Blockchain creates identities with a verifiable history; every change to the identity is permanently written to the Blockchain creating an audit trail. What’s more, hierarchical identity keys allow for easy management of identities in the real world as when low level keys are compromised externally or rotated due to internal processes, the keys can be revoked and replaced with higher level keys. Paul Snow will walk attendees through identity management on a blockchain and the many key use cases it facilitates.

Currently the mindset of the IoT world is that devices are clients to a powerful central server. This is not going to work going forward with billions of potentially insecure devices with our personal information communicating over long distances to servers in the cloud. Hopefully the general public will wake up and demand that they own their data, and will be provided with unbrickable future-proofed IoT products. If that happens the end-user will need to be protected with end-to-end encryption, in-house security products to protect the “lesser” devices and will need the ability to source services from independent providers for their needs (security, storage, etc). This will make the service providers in the cloud clients of our devices on the IoT Edge. The whole client-server paradigm will be inverted, central cloud clients communicating with IoT Edge servers. The inversion quickening has already begun! The unbrickable, free open and modular hardware platform, the Subutai Blockchain Router v2.0 went into production in April of 2018 to specifically lead the inversion. It is the Swiss Army Knife of IoT Gateways. The router has an Arduino Shield header, a Raspberry Pi Hat, and 4-PMOD connectors to interoperate with shields offered for these ecosystems. Thousands of sensors, actuators, controllers, and peripheral buses interoperate with the Subutai Blockchain Router. The router is acts both as an IoT Gateway and a hardware accelerated cloud router. It’s essentially a Subutai appliance with custom circuitry inside programmable logic that also supports an advanced hardware security framework for industrial IoT. The device’s FPGA can also contain a soft core for the Ethereum Virtual Machine to rapidly execute EVM instructions. It is designed to integrate itself and the devices it connects on the edge securely into the blockchain. In this session we will introduce users to the Subutai Blockchain Router and how to create IoT-enabled edge using the Subutai Platform.

AnyLog is a decentralized network that manages IoT data. AnyLog uses storage and compute resources offered by miners (for rewards) to create a massively parallel computer to process IoT data. Using a unique and innovative approach (leveraging a decentralized network), AnyLog allows users to store, share, query, and monetize IoT data in real time, with no reliance on a centralized authority.
